Due to low ratings, the show (directed by Arlene Sanford, and written by Sean Clark and Joan Hess) was pulled from the CBS season. The show, filmed in Atlanta, Georgia , was centered around the title character, Arly Hanks, played by Kate Jackson, who after divorcing her husband, leaves her life in New York City and returns to her small hometown of Maggody, Arkansas. She becomes Sheriff of Maggody, a small rural town with a population of 775 people, and deals with mischievous residents and solves the mysteries involving the local strip mine. |
