rdfs:commentThe language or languages of the Mayan glyphs, these are still too recently deciphered to be fully understood. The monuments are mostly in a language of the <A HREF="http://saussure.linguistlist.org/cfdocs/new-website/LL-WorkingDirs/forms/langs/get-familyid.cfm?CFTREEITEMKEY=MAAA">Cholan subgroup</A>, an archaic version of either Chol or Chortí; they may also be in one of the <A HREF="http://saussure.linguistlist.org/cfdocs/new-website/LL-WorkingDirs/forms/langs/get-familyid.cfm?CFTREEITEMKEY=MAAB">Tzeltalan languages</A>, which are closely related to Cholan. The codices seem to be often in Yucatec.
